An Integrated Approach

FIFA World Cup is at its full swing and people stay no behind to wow such kind of sports. But, is the look and feel same what it used to be a decade back for a World Cup? Is it the small participation of 32 teams falling the popularity score? Why people are waking about Africa and not World cup? Speculations will be there but, losing the charm is certainly not done. Past records say that there were days when spectators were mad to sneak peak through the football matches across the world or get any updates on it. Today, things has taken a casual turn, it is all about the personal choice or a question of national integrity anymore.

Being one of the greatest sports of the millennium, Football owes a lot more than just fans and if that basic necessity too is lacking behind then it is too close to a tragic end. Ironically, the fans still go gaga over it however; the decreased ratio is something to be worried about.  The bursting of emotions, united enthusiasm in spite of diverse backgrounds, high spirited players and higher spectators, huge football courts with people and people everywhere, loud cheers for both to the competitors and the neck to neck performances of the players, that is what a Football World Cup is!

Played for the very first time on African ground, this Football World cup came with a pledge to set fire on grounds by the performances and allied responses. But, were the promises kept? Not exaggerating the sports or criticizing it but, the show has catch the eyes of viewers and make them bound to say wow! Though the players and their hard effort performances marked starts in the game on the contrary, authorities and concerned people could have done something more to add on to the charm of the game and increase the enthusiasm of the players, which was missing!

Firstly, how did the idea of organizing the tournament in South Africa came into the picture? Not saying, that Africa is anyway less to celebrate the spirit of such sports but, things were not suitable enough for this event to take place there. May be FIFA organizers wanted to enhance the state of soccer in that country but, they should have taken into consideration that the law and order of a nation like Africa has been a matter of concern since ever and with a hint of xenophobia, it would have affected the courage of the event.

All the sentiments of South Africans were nowhere to be found soon after the departure of “Bafana Bafana” and later than the exit of Ghana, they simply cut off themselves from the match.

If this is the case now, wonder the state later years of Football World Cup.
